We are Allan and Eileen Sutherland. We’ve been married for 35
years and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
In May 2003, we came over to Bulgaria and were shown a range
of properties by Stara Planina estate agency. Two days and nine
properties later, we found a semi-derelict farmhouse set in two
and a half acres in the village of Hotnitsa, approximately 15
kilometres from Veliko Tarnovo.
Since then, we have fully renovated the house, demolished some
outbuildings and re-built others to create space for shared
facilities.
We are currently working with a Bulgarian architect and
Amazonails in the UK to design and build environmentally friendly
strawbale houses. (See the buttons on the left for more info.)
